What's happened in 2017? And What's Next?

Another year is coming to an end. 2017 was really an exciting journey for us. Each year pass by teaching a set of new experiences. 2017 was no exception.

Some cool experiences from the year 2017.

1) We launched our first SaaS product - Engagespot. Back in February, we showcased our product at WordCamp Kochi. That was my first experience with product exhibition. The awesome people who came to visit our booth boosted our confidence. That event brought us the first few customers and partnerships.

2) We conducted a campus recruitment! Just 2.5 years ago, It was another campus recruitment season in my college. All of my friends were preparing for interviews and aptitude tests. But I wished for something crazy - to conduct a campus recruitment. I never thought the dream would come true in just 2 years. And we hired some top talents who are currently part of our core team.

3) Product Expo - TechInAsia. In January 2017, When I noticed this event called TechInAsia 2017, happening at Singapore, I never expected to be a part of it the same year itself, just after 5 months. That was an amazing journey, that helped me to experience a different startup ecosystem, culture and set of new people.


By last month, Engagespot has sent over 10000000 (10Million) Notifications and is growing. It's overwhelming to see people getting benefited from something that we've developed.

But, we're not there yet.

Our Mission is to build products that bring technology closer to humans. For that to happen, we have to foresee the future and adapt to the latest technologies that are more capable of bringing our vision to reality. What do you think it'll be? AI, BlockChain, AR/VR/MR or is it something that we're yet to see?

We are excited about some revolutionary ideas, that would have a bigger impact on our daily lives. To work on revolutionary ideas, we'd have to be a bit uncomfortable. And there is a risk too. But I believe that there is no point in being an entrepreneur for the sake of being an entrepreneur. That motivates us to take the risk and find new roads to reach the 'destination'.

2018 is going to be more exciting as we're taking one more step towards our goal. We'd be experimenting and launching some cool new things in the coming year.

I hate people who say "It's impossible"

Yes. I don't like it when somebody says "Oh that's too hard. We can't do that."

But How can you say that without even trying?

What I believe is that Whatever things we think we can never do, are the things we will become great at. I have a couple of experiences in my life to support this statement. 

The inspirational quote that you often see, "Nothing is impossible" is not a pipe dream. Well, I am not talking about lifting a train by yourself or jumping into the fire without getting burned. 

But about our life goals. Lots of people wish to do something awesome in their life. But deep inside their mind, they believe they can never do it. The feeling of impossible comes into mind because that goal is out of your comfort zone. Maybe, I won't call it "out of comfort zone.". Because you can still be in your comfort zone, if you love what you are doing. You just need to have the passion for improving yourself. This is one of the core values of our company. When we come across any task that feels impossible, we sit together to find out what we need to do to make it possible. Maybe it is just about learning an extra skill or working some extra time.  We love to do that. 

So, I would rather attempt to do the things that I feel impossible. Because then I can fail, learn from the mistakes and keep trying until I get it right.

micronPHP - A Simple, Lightweight framework for building apps and API's in PHP

Building a website with PHP from scratch is annoying. You have to write the same boilerplate code for database connection, routing and defining absolute paths.

Then you might ask, why dont you use a framework ? Maybe Laravel, or CodeIgniter?
But, why should you make such a simple web app heavy by using these sophisticated frameworks ? Well of course we need them for larger projects. But using them for simple websites can be an overkill.

At Cloudfoyo, we have developed our own simple framework called,  micronPHP, Which packs all the basic functions to get started. We use this framework for simple website projects.

It even helps us to separate the presentation logic from application logic by using a view and controller. And yes, micronPHP do not have Models, Just to keep it simple. It uses the PHP PDO Extension for db access. It has some helper functions too.

A simple PHP library for converting videos to HTML5 Mp4 format

Here is a simple lightweight PHP library for converting any videos into HTML5 standard Mp4 format, so that you can stream them using the HTML5 <video> element.

It uses ffmpeg of avconv.

My College Life...

I am writing this with mixed emotions of sorrow , happiness and fear as I realize that, only few more days left in my college life. The 4 wonderful years of my life is going to end. Its hard to accept this fact. But its true! I am recalling those unforgettable days here....

 I still remember the first day in my college, just like it happened yesterday. I remember the day , I met new friends, The days , we went out of classroom during lunch break, to escape from seniors. Graphics class sessions, Workshop, first college tour, Christmas Celebration.... everything..How the time has flown by so fast..

I dont remember much about second year of my college. Dont know why. I cant recollect memories except the onam celebration. That was the first time when I got the chance to wear 'Mundu' :D , Then Onasadhya , photo sessions ...

Then comes third year. The most unforgettable and happiest moments in my college life happened during this time. Yes I am so excited when I remember third year life. There are multiple reasons for that. The first thing that strikes my mind  is our IV (tour) ! I have already shared my experiences about those 12 unforgettable days in my life  in this blog. That was not just a tour for me. I am so much attached to the memories of those days. After third year, I changed a lot. I learned to enjoy, I learned to smile, I learned lot of new things.

Then comes the final year! The best memory of 7th semester is Seminar Day. The day I've been fearing since the day I joined engineering :) But that day turned out to be one of the best moments in my college life. I will never forget the appreciation of my teachers and friends after my seminar session.


I am the kind of person who is afraid of breaking laws. So I tried to follow all the rules in college. Now its time to do something crazy. Because these days will never come back . I am trying to do all the things that I could never do again after this college life.
I texted from my mobile during classtime,  I bunked class.  And the best thing, I slept in class for the first time. I have always seen students sleeping in class. But I never had the courage to do that. Now I am happy that I experienced that feeling too.
But guys, remember.. Its addictive. So if you havent experienced it, never do this! :P

I suggest , you should experience all these atleast once in your college life. Its not the class room sessions that we are going to remember, but these crazy happy moments. This doesn't mean that I am forcing everyone to break the laws. Do all these in the last week of your college life if you want to do. It will be fun.


This college played an important role in my life. SCT gave me a lot of things to remember. Both good and bad memories. Now I am going to miss all these days. I have never been so emotional of missing something this much. I feel like the best days in my life is coming to an end. I enjoyed the real college life here. I accept the fact that not everything is meant to stay in our life for ever.
If I get another life on earth, I will come back to this college and do all those things I am leaving here now.


Now its time to say good bye... I will miss my friends, teachers, my class, exams, celebrations, each and everything ....
I will be remembering all these precious moments till I stop breathing.

Nothing much happened last year. But we got the opportunity to work with some big clients , completed few projects and learned a lot of things .Even though this is a small achievement  , it brings a lot of happiness.
Now we are gearing up for climbing great heights. We will be launching our first product within a few months.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our friends and family for their great help and support. And as always, we need your continued support to grow.
